Summary:

The Clinical Pharmacist Account Manager is responsible for external accounts and internal utilization management strategies.  Externally this position will be assisting in the presentation of plan reviews, set-up and implementation of clinical programs; help with plan and participant communications where applicable; working with the Account Executive to provide the customer with measurable clinical program outcomes.  Internally this position will support the creation, set-up and maintenance of all utilization management (UM) programs (e.g. formulary, PA, step therapy) as well all other clinical programs.  This position will ensure timely and appropriate processing of prescriptions based on the appropriate UM program.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and oversee clinical programs and their outcomes, including adherence programs, retrospective DUR, Medication Therapy Management, disease specific care management, medication reconciliation and other programs as developed.
  • Ability to use available information to recommend and initiate prior authorization and step therapy changes, creation, and maintenance.
  • Maintain monthly formulary updates to ensure proper claims adjudication.
  • Respond in a timely fashion to internal requests impacting claims processing
  • Maintains a high level contact with Account Managers in support of WellDyneRx clients and/or the client’s representatives (i.e. third party administrators, human resources personnel, brokers, etc.), including traveling to meet in person as appropriate.
  • Conducts utilization and cost analyses, drug utilization reviews and analyses, formulary management, and serves as a drug information resource.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of people in a manner which illustrates superior professionalism including speaking in front of groups of people; ability to communicate clinical information at both a layperson and peer level. 
  • Provides sales support including giving presentations to prospective clients or assisting sales with responses to requests for proposals (RFP's).
  • Ability to understand and interpret primary literature and use this knowledge to apply the data to a population.
  • Prepare monographs and present assigned topics for WellDyneRx’s pharmacy and therapeutics committee
  • Team and relationship focused, with excellent interpersonal skills for dealing with clients, peers, internal departments, and senior management.
  • Advanced project planning skills; must have the ability to manage multiple projects to successful, timely conclusion.
  • Respect and maintain confidentiality guidelines of HIPAA.
  • Follow and aid in enforcement of all company policies and procedures
  • Follows all policies and procedures related to the job.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to meet corporate objectives.

 
Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy (RPh) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)
  • 2+ years experience in managed care programs (Pharmacy Benefits Management; self- funded or health plan).
  • 1+ year of experience working with pharmacy data.
  • 1+ year of experience giving presentations
  • 1+ year of experience working in a client- facing role (I.E. working with vendors, account management role, business partners, etc).
  • 1+ year of experience managing multiple projects required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with Utilization Management preferred.
     

Work Environment / Physical Demands

This position is in both a typical office environment, which requires prolonged sitting in front of a computer and in an external environment where travel is required.  Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office equipment including operation of standard computer and phone equipment.  May have occasional high stress when dealing with customers/clients.  Travel required approximately 25% of the time.
